K [squared]² is a spoken word poet and a speed painter. They’re a duo comprised of Kim B Miller (award winning spoken word poet) and Kelly Haneklau (award winning artist). Kim B Miller performs her original poems and haiku, while Kelly Haneklau creates an original painting on the spot to coincide with the spoken word message.
Kim boldly verbalizes her poems/haiku while Kelly creates her vivid interpretations in real time on a canvas.
The end result is a powerful statement that leaves the audience thinking for days. When the poem is over, the painting is complete.
Kim is Poet Laureate of Prince William County, Manassas & Manassas Park, VA: Oct. 2020-Oct. 2022. She’s the First African American Poet Laureate for PWC. Kelly has received numerous awards for her artwork. Her current projects are focused on racial justice and supporting communities in need.
When the Hylton Performing Arts Center in VA announced a new initiative which showcased artistic talent within Prince William County’s cultural community, K [squared]² was one of the four ensembles selected and featured as part of Hylton at Home. The duo’s performance was later selected to be part of the Best of Mason Arts At Home and the Hylton At Home online series.
