Abby Bland

Abby Bland is a multi-time finalist on the Kansas City Slam stage, and represented KC in the 2018 National Poetry Slam, the 2019 Rustbelt Regional Slam, and the 2020 Woman of the World Poetry Slam. Her work has appeared in numerous journals and her debut chapbook The Odds Against a Starry Cosmos was published in November 2020 with Perennial Press. In 2022 she was awarded an ArtsKC Inspiration Grant for her show You Are Here, which premiered in the Kansas City Fringe Festival. Her work blends spoken word poetry and comedy, exploring topics like mental health and personal growth.

Rory Gardiner

CCMA nominated Country Artist & Comedian Rory Gardiner has appeared on multiple CMT (Country Music Television) nationally broadcasted reality shows and shared the stage with a number of great country acts like Keith Urban. Fusing his music background with stand-up comedy, he has made several television appearances for brands like Under Armor or shows like The Handmaids Tale. With over 30 million views on TikTok, his comedy sketches have been featured on Funny or Die, Americans Funniest Videos, and you can catch his hilarious 2019 TEDx Talk, on using humor as a coping mechanism.

David Zach

David Zach is the lead singer and songwriter for the rock band Remedy Drive as well as an advocate in the fight against human trafficking. When not touring with the band David spends time overseas as a volunteer undercover operative with the abolitionist group The Exodus Road.

While overseas David spends time in brothels and clubs in the red-light districts where underage girls and boys are sold by the hour. His role while undercover is to identify instances of minors being sold and to capture actionable evidence of their trafficking using covert gear, some of which is funded by the Remedy Drive community and fan base. That evidence is used to make rescues and arrests in partnership with local authorities.

The idea that ordinary human beings can impact change for freedom and justice is central to the message David brings to audiences across the world.

Kate Huffman is an award-winning actor/playwright, speaker, and triple-certified body confidence coach. She helps people reclaim the time, energy, and money wasted on the endless war with their bodies so that they can live in greater alignment with their purpose.

Her world-toured one-woman show I’M TOO FAT FOR THIS SHOW tells her story of 20+ years of eating disorders, OCD, chronic pain, and body dysmorphia. It was the sharing of her story and seeing how many people out there were struggling with similar issues that sent Kate on her path to creating body acceptance programs that are changing people’s lives.

Shytown

Shytown is a pop-rock reggae-funk jam band from Chicago. They paid their dues as street performers on California’s Santa Monica Pier and were selected to be on rap mogul Suge Knight’s TV series, “Unfinished Business”. Following that, the duo toured with the late Glee star, Cory Montieth, wrote for Atlantic Records and worked with recording artists The Struts, Cody Simpson, Jay McGuiness from The Wanted, Kelly Clarkson and appeared on Dirty Pop hosted by *NSYNC member Lance Bass. They’ve been hitting the stage around the Midwest and southern Florida, bringing music fans some upbeat tunes.

Maiah Wynne

Singer-songwriter, Maiah Wynne fuses her music and her certified First Aid Arts training to create an engaging presentation of practical mental health tools that can be employed easily to each student’s day. Available in person and via Zoom, she has presented this interactive lecture in classrooms all over the US and Canada. Maiah will share everyday tools that she’s learned from firstaidarts.org that can help calm, uplift, and regulate in times of need. Each student will leave with calm in their heart and practical mental health tools at their fingertips.
