Designed Student Engagement: Why It Matters Improving college completion is a shared objective of higher education. It is the focus of colleges, foundations, and state governments. But the nation’s collective ambition of the number of students earning a credential far exceeds today’s outcomes. Many students are not attaining their goals. If student outcomes are to equal student aspirations, colleges must be more effective in helping students graduate. Learn why designed student engagement, especially with student campus activities, matters to helping more students succeed!

Linda García is the Executive Director of the Center for Community College Student Engagement (the Center) at The University of Texas at Austin (UT). Prior to this role, she served as the Assistant Director of College Relations at the Center. Linda’s experience includes student development, instructional support, grant writing, and teaching. March 10, 3:00 PM EST: Tiki Ayiku

Vaccinations, Administrations, Re-openings, Oh MY!
It feels like we’ve been holding on for a hero in the form of a vaccine and that it would serve as a magic wand to get our campus environments back to normal. But the reality for us in Student Affairs is very different. As the vaccinations roll out, we are now facing the fact that student life events and engagement will never be back to “normal” and perhaps that’s not a bad thing. Let’s come together to talk about what’s now, what’s next, and what best practices can help to retain our students and encourage success.
