SPOKEN WORD ARTIST
Jeffrey Banks is poetically known as "Big Homey". He was the opening act for America’s Got Talent Champion, Brandon Leake and curated virtual programming for thousands throughout the pandemic including national celebrities as well as international platforms like Spoken Word Paris.
He’s been featured in national media such as ESSENCE Magazine, Sirius/XM Satellite Radio, Radio-One Inc., the CBS Early Show and BLACK ENTERPRISE Magazine. Publishing credits include being the poetry editor of Bourgeon Magazine as well as the anthologies, The Great World of Days and the Afro-LatinX publication, Diaspora Cafe. He's a poetry curriculum writer with his work in books used in DC Schools and public libraries. He's a Lead Teaching Artist for the DC Arts & Humanities Education Collaborative instructing 7th-12th graders. He's won nearly a dozen grant awards since 2019. He's performed for 30 colleges.
